On new single Head Up, aggro-jazz four-piece Vipertime are joined by Jamaican-born, Sheffield-based hip hop and afro-fusion artist Franz Von.

After years of touring in various projects, Vipertime and Franz Von have come together in the studio and found a powerful, individual voice. Franz has built a reputation for his high energy live performances, but here he is given space for introspection. His spoken word delivery resonates at the heart of the composition before building to a crescendo as the sax and guitar come to the fore. 

Vipertime have always drawn from the sounds of Impulse!, afrobeat and their peers in the UK jazz revival, but on Head Up you can find the influence of Buena Vista Social Club and Willie Colón, while Franz Von channels the spirits of The Last Poets and Count Ossie.
